The Online SBS is designed to integrate into your life, work and ministry situation. The course takes time and effort, but the learning outcomes are very rewarding and designed to assist you in living an enriched Christian life.
*This Course is divided into three Quarters
Quarter #1: Sep – Dec 2026
Quarter #2: Jan – March 2027
Quarter #3: Apr – June 2027
The 9 month Online SBS is one of the most exciting schools in YWAM’s University of the Nations which is now accessible to many more people through this online e-learning format.
On completion of all of the modules, you will not only be proficient in using the tools and skills of effective Bible study, but will have applied those skills to every book of the Bible. Understanding the significance of the various kinds of biblical literature and the original setting and culture of each book are an integral part of the inductive approach.
The application of scripture, both into your personal life and ministry, and into the wider spheres of society is the purpose and specific goal of all of our study. Studying the course while engaged with life responsibilities brings the added dynamic for immediate application of the study into your life and ministry situations.
Using these three steps, the Bible will be read up to five times, outlined and charted. These charts, which are paragraph-by-paragraph breakdowns of each book, are a record of your own discoveries, and become valuable aids in future study as well as possible Bible study or teaching and preaching situations.
Modules 1-3 lay the foundation for the course, teaching the principle of the inductive approach, and the particular method of study employed in this course.
These modules use the letters of Philemon, Galatians, Titus and Thessalonians, Mark and Luke’s Gospels, and Acts. When these 3 modules have been completed, other modules can be completed in any order -although some modules do have prerequisites.
As an Online SBS student, you will be part of a cohort of other students and staff who are close to your time zone.
You will have the opportunity to meet with staff and fellow students via both online meetings and a forum. The purpose of these platforms is for you to meet other students and your staff for support and fellowship, to ask any questions you might have, and to be accountable in your studies. Your cohort leader will let you know more details when you begin your studies.
You are required to meet online at least once every three weeks, but we encourage you to take the opportunity to meet more if you are able.
Should you not attend at least one meeting every three weeks you will receive a reduction in your final module grade of 2% for every three weeks you missed.

Thomas Zulu
My name is Thomas and I am from Zambia. I love watching detective movies and nature. I am married to my lovely wife Butshwa, we met in Malawi while doing a leadership school. I did my DTS in Zambia and while on my outreach, I saw the need and was called into Bible Training and distribution. This calling led me to Muizenberg, to do my SBS here. Over the many years that I’ve been with YWAM, I’ve been involved with a variety of things. My first ministry was teaching, then I’ve been staffing and leading DTS’s, working with underprivileged school drop-out’s, among other things. Currently, I am co-leading the SBS and online SBS with my wife. We are also part of the Eldership of YWAM Muizenberg, and leading the Biblical Transformation Circle and Biblical Department. I am also involved with Bible teaching and training with the local churches. My passion is to equip the body of Christ in Africa and beyond, to inspire people to study the Bible for themselves, so that their lives can be transformed.
Butshwa Zulu
My name is Butshwa and I am from Zimbabwe, married to Thomas. Taking a walk in nature refreshes my heart. From a young age I have had a heart for teaching, and I am so thankful to get to teach the word of God and see people grow in their understanding of the Bible and experience God through His word. I believe that the word of God brings freedom, restoration and healing to his precious people. I did my DTS 2001 in Zimbabwe and a leadership school 2002 in Malawi where I was challenged to believe that despite all the problems we see, THERE IS HOPE FOR AFRICA. The way I can be part of bringing hope is through Biblical training and discipleship. I did my SBS 2004 in Muizenberg -and have been serving with the Biblical Department here ever since! I am currently co-leading the SBS and online SBS, as well as part of the Eldership and leadership of the Biblical Department and Biblical Transformation Circle with my husband, here in YWAM Muizenberg. I also have a heart for hospitality. I have been Blessed to be a Blessing!
