"What's the vision? What's the big idea? The vision is Jesus. Obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus. Your time is now. Wake up, O sleeper. Arise and shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. Nations will come to your light and kingdoms to the brightness of your dawn. "

building relationship with God, learning more about who you are and how to engage well with others in a live-learn environment.

A DTS is a 6 month intensive Discipleship Training School with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) focused on building relationship with God, learning more about who you are and how to engage well with others in a live-learn environment. A DTS is composed of a 3 month Lecture Phase, a 3 month Outreach Phase and a 2 week Debrief Phase.

What is DTS?

More than a school, a Discipleship Training School is an experience and a journey designed to develop truth, faith and character, so that we can walk out into a world that is searching and into a generation who is full of questions, embodying the life of Jesus and love of Jesus in a real and practical way. What does God have to say about racism, xenophobia, refugees, etc? These are just some of today’s big topics that we will discuss and gain a greater understanding of. We are called to be the light of the world according to Matthew 5:14, and we will look at how this is possible in the midst of a world that is asking questions and feeling more confused.

We will have teachers from all over the world, from various church and cultural backgrounds, give their input on the school. The topics will cover a wide range from how to Hear the Voice of God to having a Biblical Worldview, all with the intention of knowing God deeper. Outside of the classroom students can enjoy the local life by visiting all the coffee shops, surfing or taking a good book and reading it while overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean.

How does a dts look like?

The first part of the DTS will take place at YWAM Muizenberg on the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town, South Africa. During lectures we will spend time worshipping God together, seeking His heart and searching in His Word for His ways. We will engage in intercession for nations and evangelism in this nation. The DTS is geared to disciple each person by creating a live-learn environment where we rub shoulders with those of different cultures. As we discover others cultures we see more of how God made us and we can celebrate the diversity. Every part of the DTS is designed with help from the Holy Spirit in order to facilitate growth. You will be challenged to live lives that reflect Christ in all you do. While on outreach, we focus on those that don’t have existing relationships with God yet – reconciling them to their Heavenly Father.

Our final three months of DTS will consist of going to the nations in smaller teams on outreach. We will partner with local YWAM bases, churches and ministries sharing the love of Jesus through evangelism, training and mercy ministries. Outreach locations differ from school to school depending on the vision of the school.

We will spend around 1-2 weeks after outreach back in Muizenberg in order to debrief.

Outside of the classroom students can enjoy the local life here in the beautiful city of Cape Town, visiting all the coffee shops and a surfer’s paradise only a few minutes walk from our base or taking a trip into the city to experience the beautiful cultures and sights! Meet The School Leaders!

Chad

Chad

I am 32 years old from a small community, called Ocean View, in the deep south of Cape Town. I did my DTS with Sound of the Nations in April 2017. Since then I have staffed DTS, and  completed a leadership course with YWAM. Currently, I am leading the YWAM Muizenberg prayer room. My hearts desire is to see  this generation, and generations to come, burning with the desire to encounter God in a new miraculous way and to see the release of heavenly melodies through prayer and missions. I love spending time in nature and love jamming on the guitar. I’m not a lover of sweet treats but I do love a good piece of peppermint tart.

Justine

My name is Justine, I am 23 and I grew up in South Africa!
My heart and greatest love is to journey with people from knowing God conceptually to encountering Him as their very Creator, Father and Friend.
Good coffee and deep conversations, writing, creating art, exploring and experiencing new places and ways of life, and running wild with the flag of revival – these are a few of my favourite things 😉
I did my DTS at YWAM Muizenberg in 2015 and since 2018 have joined YWAM Muizenberg full time, working with DTS’s, and have led two outreaches to Japan.   I am currently part of the YWAM Muizenberg Prayer Room and just completed the School of Prayer.
