Build your relationship with God,
learn more about who you are and what
you were created for, and learn how engage with the diverse body of Christ

A DTS is a 6 month intensive Discipleship Training School with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) focused on building relationship with God, learning more about who you are and how to engage well with others in a live-learn environment. A DTS is composed of a 3 month Lecture Phase, a 3 month Outreach Phase and a 2 week Debrief Phase.

Youth With a mission school

"How can I live in this world?
Oh, what can I do?
It is so dark ahead of me.
Mother and father do not want us.
They sell us to thugs."

[The words of a young child in South Africa, originally written as a poem in the Xhosa language]

What is DTS?

More than a school, a Discipleship Training School is an experience and a journey designed to develop truth, faith and character, so that we can walk out into a world that is searching and into a generation who is full of questions, embodying the life of Jesus and love of Jesus in a real and practical way. What does God have to say about racism, xenophobia, refugees, etc? These are just some of today’s big topics that we will discuss and gain a greater understanding of. We are called to be the light of the world according to Matthew 5:14, and we will look at how this is possible in the midst of a world that is asking questions and feeling more confused.

We will have teachers from all over the world, from various church and cultural backgrounds, give their input on the school. The topics will cover a wide range from how to Hear the Voice of God to having a Biblical Worldview, all with the intention of knowing God deeper. Outside of the classroom students can enjoy the local life by visiting all the coffee shops, surfing or taking a good book and reading it while overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean.

How does a dts look like?

The first part of the DTS will take place at YWAM Muizenberg on the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town, South Africa. During lectures we will spend time worshipping God together, seeking His heart and searching in His Word for His ways. We will engage in intercession for nations and evangelism in this nation. The DTS is geared to disciple each person by creating a live-learn environment where we rub shoulders with those of different cultures. As we discover others cultures we see more of how God made us and we can celebrate the diversity. Every part of the DTS is designed with help from the Holy Spirit in order to facilitate growth. You will be challenged to live lives that reflect Christ in all you do. While on outreach, we focus on those that don’t have existing relationships with God yet – reconciling them to their Heavenly Father.
